Obituary

Brenda Ann Talley, affectionately known at BrenAnn, was born on February 17, 1955, in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was the fourth child born to Hamp and Kate Talley and the first born in Saint Louis. Brenda attended Dozier and Big Mitchell Elementary. Brenda graduated from the Special School District of Saint Louis County in June 1974.

She confessed to Christ at a young age, was later baptized, and became a member of West End Carmel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. James E. Turner Sr. She was a dedicated member and participated in the life of the church, faithfully fulfilling her position on the Kitchen committee.

Brenda was a good, dedicated, hard worker in anything she put her heart, mind, and soul to. Her main profession was in the domestic field. She held a housekeeping position as second lead at Cole’s Motel for many years in the 80’s. She also held a certified position with Goodwill Industries in the janitorial department for many years during the 90’s. From August 2008 through April 2017, she was a certified employee at Worth Industries, where she loved going Monday-Friday, working with her hands until her retirement. During her employment, she was recognized as Employee of the Month on several occasions. Brenda also worked other domestic jobs to help make ends meet and provide for her family, such as babysitting. She babysat for a few family members and her friends. She’d say if a child was ‘spoiled,’ she would ‘Break them from that.” Brenda was one of the BEST at cleaning and cooking chitterlings. That was another one of her “Paid Under the Tables,” as she would say. She was great at it and did it out of love, along with a smile.

She would often be asked to make her famous potato salad, especially for family functions or social gatherings above all else. Brenda treasured her family and loved spending time with them as often as she could. One of her last acts of love for the family was to help orchestrate a surprise birthday party for her baby sister. Her unconditional love brought comfort to everyone blessed to know her. Brenda will always be remembered for her grand smile, her memory like an elephant, and her love for Sunflower seeds. Most of all, she will be remembered for her great sense of humor, a kind heart, and telling “It Like It Is”! Brenda was also a protector. There are a lot of stories out there to back it up. She was referred to as “being good with her hands.

Brenda received community support services from Adapt Services from June 2008 through March of 2018 and was supported by the Association of Aging with Developmental Disabilities from 2024 until most recently. She was a “Senior Hot Shot’ who enjoyed playing Bingo at the Ferguson Senior Club. Brenda had won a game on her last visit, which was a day before she passed.

On Friday, July 10th (one day before her late mother’s Heavenly 95th birthday), Brenda gained her wings and was added to the angels that watch over us.

Brenda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bunion and Lula Miller James and Lucille Talley; her parents, Hamp and Kate Talley; her two daughters, SaRenda and LaShay Allen; her grandson, Troy Reitz; and her sister, Lucy Morgan.

To carry on her legacy and memory, she leaves her (2) daughters: Wrenda L. Talley and Kendra L. Price; (5) grandchildren: CraigAnthony T. Moore, Deja Ann Stallworth, Kyle D. Stallworth, Ryan M. Price, Ziah M. Price, and Heaven L. Reitz.

She also leaves (1) brother, Stacey Talley, and (2) sisters, Lois Dukes and Cecilia Talley (2) aunts, Catherine Minor and Lessie Mae Triplett, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by her love.
