Ivy Lee was born to Columbus and Pearline Okain on September 2, 1958. He was the 7th of ten children. He was preceded in death, his parents, his siblings Janet DeNormus, Clyde, Earnce, Valentina and nephews Ray Okain, Joel Phillips and niece Danielle Famous.
He attended the Saint Louis Public Schools and graduated from Mckinley High School, after graduation he decided to join U.S. Marine Corps. Serving over 15 years in the Marine Corp, he accomplished metals and awards. He developed skills in specific Military Occupational Specialities, like rifle markmanship, several good conduct metals and C-service deployment ribbons. Upon retiring from the marines his rank was staff sergeant.
He lived in North Carolina for many years but decided to return home to St. Louis in 2009 to re-unite with his family. He leaves to cherish his memory four sublins, Floyd (Rochelle), Marchell, Sandra (Kevin) and Ernest. A host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
