Obituary

Leroy Atkins Sr. was born on December 24, 1945, to the union of Chester and Ruth Atkins, in Darlove, Mississippi. His parents, daughters Angela and Chrissy, brothers Elton and Charles and grandson Hezekiah preceded him in death.

Leroy Sr., affectionately called “Bo-Pete,” received his education in Leland, Mississippi. He relocated to Saint Louis, Missouri with his family to be near his mother and siblings. He started working for Majestic Concrete Company before securing a long-term position with H&R Block, where he performed repairs in various office buildings for several years. This work inspired him to pursue a career in carpentry. He had a passion for the work he did and ultimately became everyone’s go-to handyman.

At the age of ten, Bo-Pete acknowledged Christ as his Lord and Savior. He later accepted God’s calling to ministry and shepherded many of God’s saints over the years. He was loved and cherished by every congregation he served until his health began to decline.

Bo-Pete departed this life on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; One Brother, James; Two Sisters, Evelyn & Ruby; Sons: Leroy Jr, Terrell (Latasha), Brian Sr. (Nicole); Daughters: Elaine (Harold), Tamika (Demetrius), Martha, Keisha & Janaye; Stepdaughter, Jackie (Raymond) and at least twenty-four grandchildren, ten or more great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
