On February 8, 2009, Jessika Scott and Marquise Mayes were blessed with the arrival of their beautiful daughter, Ziyah Mayes, who brought immense joy and light into the world. Ziyah was truly a gift—her warm brown eyes and radiant dimples could brighten any room whenever she smiled.
A bright and intelligent young woman, Ziyah began reading by the age of three and continued to excel academically. She was a proud 11th grade student at McCluer High School, where she was known for her sharp mind, kind heart, and positive spirit.
From a young age, Ziyah had a deep love for horses. She spent countless hours playing with her miniature horse collection at her grandmother's home. Her imagination knew no bounds—she once even believed she was a horse herself, much to the delight of her family.
Ziyah had a loving spirit and deeply cherished her time with family. She especially enjoyed caring for her younger siblings, always watching over them with a sense of pride and affection. Her presence was a constant source of joy, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her great-great-grandmother, Wilhelmina Certain.
Due to a tragic accident, Ziyah transitioned on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. She leaves to cherish her memory: her parents, Jessika Scott and Marquise Mayes; step-father, Anthony Hines; five siblings, Zoey Mayes, Skylar Scott-Hines, Jazyr Scott, Mykel Mayes, and Ariel Carter; her grandparents, Tashena Scott, Darius Lamarr, Patrice Winters, and JoAnn Lamarr; great-grandmother, Patricia Scott; great-aunt, Cynthia Patterson; cousin, DeWayne Scott; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
