Henry Wade Obituary

Mr. Henry Horton Wade, Sr. was born Marh 10, 1930 in Tchula, Mississippi. His parents were Dorothia (Beverly) and David Wade, Sr., both preceded him in death. He was educated in Holmes County; but his entrepreneurial spirit drew him to businesses in Town where he would volunteer sweeping the floors. The Lord had favor on him at an early age so rather than attending school he was paid to work to help support the family.

He was united in Holy Matrimony on December 22, 1951, to the love of his life Ms. Martha Lou Epps who also preceded him in death. To this union four children were born. Later they adopted three more children and became God Parents to many others.

In 1957 Henry moved his family to St. Louis, Missouri where he found favor with Mr. Mcintosh at a gas station and auto repair shop. He became a skilled Auto mechanic and worked there for many years. His entrepreneurial spirit pushed him to go into business for Phillip 66 where he managed a full-service gas and auto repair shop. He later took his skills and opened "The Shop" where he trained his sons and anyone else that was interested in making a living as a mechanic. Many men contribute their work ethics and the ability to provide for their families to the unselfishness of this man. He was an amazing husband, father, and provider for his family.

Henry found Christ during the July revival at West End Temple COGIC under the Pastorship of the late Gus Martin. On July 28, 1970, as his wife was giving birth to the youngest son, he received the Holy Ghost. He was appointed Deacon and served that appointment faithfully until his health failed. When he felt conflict in the environment a few of his favorite sayings were "Let's Stay Saved." Or "Lord Help." He always strived to remain peaceful.

Henry's favor thing was being with his brothers and going fishing. His life was full because of the times he shared with family. If the family was traveling, he made sure his bags were packed. His memories will be cherished by three daughters - Murlene (Cleodis) Weaver, Sr., Wyvone (Glenn) Haymon of St. Louis, MO, Debra (Le'Roi) Johnson of Harvest, Alabama; three sons - Henry Wade Jr., David Wade, and Anthony Wade of St. Louis, MO. A special niece, Darlene Williams of Harvest, Alabama; three special nephews - Eddie (Brenda) Epps, Willie (Deretha) Epps, and Dennis Epps of St. Louis, MO; four brothers, one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, fifteen grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
